Member Group

Communications Committee

Purpose:  Act as the public information resource for dissemination of information developed by the Association, BOMA International, or affiliated organizations.  Also to enhance the public image, prestige and influence of the association in civic and business affairs and publicizing the purposes, programs and activities of the association to members, the commercial real estate industry and the general public.

 

Objective:  Obtain better promotions for Chapter activities, events, reports, etc.

Education Committee

Purpose:  To enhance the level of professional knowledge available to members, sponsor informative programs on new and relevant information or topics of interest, and shall actively work to facilitate and encourage participation in the programs of the BOMA Institute. 

Objective:  Explore and develop continuing professional education opportunities for members and ensure that they meet the needs of those pursuing BOMA designations as well as BOMA continuing education requirements.  Also, develop specific seminar-style training programs for members and community (lighting, roofing, security, maintenance, energy use, etc.).

Finance Committee

Purpose:  Audit association accounts, advise on the formulation of the yearly association budget, dues assessment and financial matters, and develop plans for the long-range growth and development of the association.

 

Objective:  Develop a long-term financial plan for the Association and analyze and prepare the Chapter budget monthly and annually.

Government Affairs Committee

Purpose: Improve conditions relative to the ownership and management of commercial real estate property, particularly where they may relate to municipal, state and federal legislative, code, judicial and regulatory actions.

 

Objective:  Increase awareness of policy makers of BOMA interest and presence on issues, e.g., building code, energy/utilities, etc., meet with local legislators, towns, counties, and explore legislative coalition ideas with other BOMA chapters in the New York area.

Market Conditions Committee

Purpose:  Prepare reports, briefs and studies relating to the interest of members and the commercial real estate industry.

Objective:  Develop an annual program for members on local real estate markets and trends.  Also, identify/report on other markets that impact on the commercial real estate industry, including: insurance, medical office developments, labor market/workforce/wages and standards, utilities, and building maintenance

Membership Committee

Purpose:  Identify, interest, and nominate individuals for membership in the association through coordinated program of activities and shall have as its purpose the increase of membership and retention of existing members in conformance with acceptance standards.

Objective:  Define reasons for membership in BOMA and design a promotional brochure to use with membership recruitment.  Consider financial and other incentives to increase and sustain membership.

Programs Committee

Purpose:  Develop a series of programs of interest to the association members and the commercial real estate industry.

 

Objective:  Develop annual schedule to publicize a calendar of events for BOMA members, media, and local officials and consider approach of certain topic areas to be included each year (e.g., market conditions, legislative, professional education, entertainment, annual) that would address a variety of interests and needs

Nominating Committee

Purpose:  To oversee the development recruitment and willingness to serve of potential board members in order to ensure future leadership of the association.
